You’re definitely talking about something more than shoes when you talk of Air Jordan 4.

A short trip down the memory lane: Chicago Bulls were caught in a do or die situation against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The time had almost finished. The Bulls needed something more on the scoreboard, or they would be knocked out of the season. It was a score or go-home moment.

Right at the buzzer, Michael Jordan jumped his way into the Cavaliers’ defense and scored a shot (later immortalized as “the shot”) to eventually clinch the match for the Bulls and take them to the next round.

And then, TV cameras started focusing on Michael Jordan’s feet, and he was wearing Air Jordan 4.

The Air Jordan 4 had a full-length midsole, an increased ankle, and forefoot support (in the form of straps, or “wings”). On the air cushioned heel was a big, prominent Nike Air inscription.

For some reason, Nike decided to replace it with the Jumpman logo in the retro versions, which also looked cool (but somehow lacked the original nostalgic touch associated with the Jordan 4s). Thankfully, Jordan 4s had more than Michael Jordan’s “the shot” moment to bring to mind.

Remember Do the Right Thing, the Spike Lee film released in 1989? Remember Mookie’s role in it? Remember something more? Mookie’s feet by any chance?

Well, if you’re a Michael Jordan fan, you would! Mookie had Air Jordan 4s on his feet when he scuffed them against his bicycle tire. Only Air Jordan fans could feel the pain!
