Released in 1989, right in-between both the AM1 and AM90, the Air Max Light (aka the Air Max II) will go down in history as a great follow up to such a clean and refined design like its predecessor, the Air Max 1. As the name suggests, the second-gen edition also loses weight by changing the midsole foams to a lighter polyurethane in the heel and phylon in the forefoot, with thermoplastic straps added for strategic support. BRS1000 waffles made the outsole more durable and a variable-width lace system allowed for multiple cinching options. Despite being a nice design packed with technological advances, the Light has always had a low profile within the Max franchise. This is a sad reality, as the Light seems to not garner as much attention as some of its other brethren. However, it still remains a rare and must have item for any real sneakerhead collection.
